Sporting News provided live updates and highlights from the dramatic game

OMAHA, Neb. -- Tommy White's solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning lifted No. 2 LSU (47-20) to a 1-0 victory over Wake Forest (41-24) in the College World Series semifinals on Thursday night at TD Ameritrade Park. The win sends LSU to the championship series for the first time since 2017. The Tigers will face No. 1 Tennessee (57-9) in a best-of-three series starting Saturday night.

White's home run came on a 2-2 pitch from Wake Forest reliever Camden Minacci. It was the first hit of the game for LSU, which had been held hitless by Wake Forest starter Rhett Lowder through the first six innings. Lowder allowed just two singles in his six innings of work, striking out eight batters. Minacci allowed two hits and two walks in his five innings of relief. LSU starter Jaden Hill allowed just two hits in his six innings of work, striking out nine batters. Devin Fontenot (3-0) earned the win in relief, allowing just one hit in three innings of work.

The game was a pitchers' duel throughout, with both teams struggling to generate offense. LSU finally broke through in the 11th inning when White connected on his home run. The win is LSU's 12th in a row and its 20th in its last 22 games. The Tigers are now one win away from their seventh national championship.
